Frequently Asked Questions

🤍 What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My role is to support you, your voice, your choices, and your overall experience.

🤍 What does a doula do during labor?

During labor, I provide continuous support through comfort techniques like breathing, positioning, and movement, along with reassurance and guidance. I help you stay informed, calm, and supported every step of the way.

🤍 Do you replace my doctor or midwife?

No, I do not provide medical care. Your doctor or midwife is responsible for your clinical care, while I focus on your comfort, emotional well being, and support throughout your journey.

🤍 What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A midwife is a licensed medical provider who delivers babies and manages medical care. A doula provides non-medical support focused on your emotional, physical, and mental well-being before, during, and after birth.

🤍 Are doulas evidence based?

Yes. Continuous labor support like the care a doula provides is supported by research from organizations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the World Health Organization. Studies show it can improve birth experiences and outcomes.

🤍 What are the benefits of having a doula?

Research has shown that having a doula can:

  •  Reduce the likelihood of cesarean birth
  •  Shorten labor
  •  Decrease the need for interventions
  •  Increase satisfaction with the birth experience
  •  Provide continuous emotional and physical support

🤍 Do doulas help with pain during labor?

Yes 🤍 While I don’t provide medical pain relief, I use evidence based comfort techniques like breathing, movement, positioning, and relaxation to help you cope with labor more comfortably.

🤍 Do you support all types of births?

Absolutely. I support:
  •  Unmedicated births
  •  Epidural births
  •  Inductions
  •  Cesarean births
  •  Water births

Mostly all births

Your choices are respected and supported without judgment.

🤍 Can I still have a doula if I get an epidural?

Yes , A doula continues to provide emotional support, helps with positioning, and keeps you informed and supported throughout your labor.

🤍 Do you support partners too?

Yes , I support both you and your partner by guiding them, offering reassurance, and helping them feel confident and involved throughout the experience.

🤍 When should I hire a doula?

It’s best to book during your first or second trimester to ensure availability. However, I may accept clients later in pregnancy depending on my schedule.

🤍 What does your birth support include?

Birth support typically includes:
  •  Prenatal visits
  •  Birth planning guidance
  •  Continuous labor support
  •  Comfort techniques
  •  Emotional encouragement
  •  Immediate postpartum support

🤍 Do you create birth plans?

Yes , I help you create a birth plan that reflects your preferences while also preparing you for flexibility if things change.

🤍 Do you attend cesarean births?

Yes, in many cases I can provide support before and after a cesarean birth, and sometimes during the procedure depending on hospital policies.

🤍 Do you offer postpartum support?

Yes, Postpartum support includes emotional care, recovery support, and guidance as you adjust to life with your newborn.

🤍 How much does a doula cost?

Pricing varies depending on the level of support and package you choose. I offer different options and may provide flexible payment plans. Please contact me for current pricing and availability.

🤍 Are doula services covered by insurance?

Some insurance plans or programs may offer reimbursement for doula services. Coverage varies, so I recommend checking with your provider. I can provide documentation if needed.

🤍 How do I know if you’re the right doula for me?

The right doula is someone you feel safe, comfortable, and connected with. I offer consultations so we can get to know each other and make sure I’m the right fit for your journey.

🤍 What happens during a consultation?

This is a relaxed, no pressure conversation where we:
  •  Get to know each other
  •  Talk about your needs and preferences
  •  Go over my services
  •  Answer any questions you have

🤍 How do I book your services?
